Introducing Lazy Guy: An Anti-guru Aiming to Do Procrastination Right

I recently had a strange idea on my way to work:
What if our weaknesses were actually superpowers?
My main superpower quickly popped into my mind: procrastination. Concepts started connecting. Then I recalled how sad I felt when my favourite to-do app was discontinued.
By the time I got to my bus stop, the concept behind Lazy Guy was born.
My favourite to-do app
Spiffing Apps released Put Things Off (PTO) in June 2009.
This laid-back to-do list app had a simple design. Each task could exist in one of four trays:
- Inbox
- Today
- Put Off
- Done
I’d start each day tapping the +
button to add tasks in the Inbox. Then I’d tap the ❊
button to place 1–3 tasks into the Today tray. I’d tap the →
button next to move less urgent tasks into the Put Off tray. Then I’d focus on the Today tray and tap ✔︎
to move completed tasks to the Done tray.
How PTO helped me
- Deferring less urgent tasks was freeing. It reduced my Today list to something manageable. I no longer felt overwhelmed and could focus on doing one task at a time.
- Procrastination done right. Nothing fell through the cracks. Tasks in the Put Off tray would move back into the Today tray after 3 days (or a time I could choose).
- It taught me how to prioritise. PTO appreciated my tendency to procrastinate and encouraged me to embrace it.
The anti-guru (a new type of superhero?)
PTO helped me see productivity and myself in a new way. Lazy Guy is my attempt to capture and share similar experiences with you.
If you’re anything like me, you struggle with the daily grind. Just getting out of bed feels like an achievement some days.
I don’t have it all sorted (far from it) … but I want to offer an invitation:
- If you’re interested in joining me in skipping the rat race,
- Then I’ll to provide content that aims to help us uncover, recognise, cultivate, and celebrate our ability to face daily challenges.
I have no intention of wasting your time.
My content will be brief and practical. I doubt every piece will apply to everyone … and that’s okay. Please contact me with your comments, feedback, questions and suggestions. I’d love to hear from you.
Will you join me?
