Improve Your Relationship With Money — The Lazy Guy Way

I’m not rich.
I doubt I ever will be. Yet, I enjoy my relationship with money. Do you? It took me a while to learn the following three steps. Maybe they can help you as well.
Here’s how to improve your relationship with money — the Lazy Guy way.
1. Play to your strengths
Then pick a career where you can shine. Your occupation takes up a large chunk of your life. So choose jobs you’ll enjoy.
Use your strengths to serve others by creating, adding or sharing value.
For example, I get paid to do what I enjoy.
I love a good story. As a counsellor and writer, I get to listen, read and write them. In do so, I help others uncover, recognise, cultivate, and celebrate their ability to face daily challenges.
How about you?
2. Pick the right gear
Use simple, yet effective tools to manage your money.
I use:
- YNAB* and their four simple rules for less money stress.
Within YNAB, I have two templates:
- One from The Barefoot Investor for personal finance, and
- One from Profit First for my business.
Nick True from Mapped Out Money has also been a great help.
- His Ahead In 100 course has helped me track, plan and spend my money on the things that are meaningful to me.
3. Keep showing up
We all start somewhere.
Why not today? Your relationship with money will never be perfect. Accept that and embrace it.
If we keep placing one foot in front of the other, we’ll be in a better place than we were last year.
*Note: We will both get a free month of YNAB if you use this link and subscribe after your 34-day free trial.
