Keep your head and extend your life

Mum often says …
- I’d forget my head if it wasn’t screwed on, and
- I’ll be late to my own funeral.
Sorry Mum …
- My head’s remained intact for over a decade, and
- I’m putting off my funeral for as long as I can.
Embracing laziness?
Everyone perceives life in their own unique way.

Here, you’ll find me embracing mine. Rather than entering into (and losing) the constant dog-eat-dog tug-of-war of modern day life, I’ve opted for something different. Something better.
Something some might call lazy.
Welcome to lazyguy.me

Have you ever:
- Been so stuck in cycles of overwhelm, you run around like a chicken with its head cut off?
- Experienced the imposter syndrome so deeply, you believe the rest of the crew will vote you out ASAP? (Among Us anyone?)
- Taken such a beating from your own self-criticism, that your confidence is crumbling away to nothing?
If so: welcome, you’re in the right place!
About Karl (the Lazy Guy)
Hi, I’m Karl and I’m a (recovering) couch potato.

I split my time between blogging and working part-time as a counsellor. In both roles, I love:
- Discovering patterns,
- Finding shortcuts, and
- Getting a big return from taking small actions.
Before becoming a counsellor, I worked in the education, business, and health sectors:
- Providing pastoral care and leadership training to national and international tertiary students,
- Serving customers in various retail stores, and
- Teaching blind and partially sighted children and young people how to manage daily tasks and travel independently.
These roles taught me how to work with people from other cultures and different professions.

As a counsellor, I’ve:
- Formed trusted working relationships across cultural boundaries,
- Built rapport with people of all ages, and
- Helped marginalised members of the community find their voice and express their needs.
It is a privilege to help clients uncover, recognise, cultivate, and celebrate their ability to face daily challenges.
I regularly review my effectiveness and keep up-to-date with evidence-based therapies that offer techniques drawn from the most well-researched, proven-effective models available.
