Is breakfast the most important meal of the day?

I don’t know. My most important meal is the one I’ll eat next. If that’s breakfast, then it’s important. You may differ. But if you don’t, here are …

3 quick and easy breakfast options.

Option 1: Crack an egg or two

Omelettes are yummy.

They’ve my favourite breakfast. Quick, cheap and easy. Here’s how to make the perfect one.

Once you’ve mastered it, you’re ready for …

Option 2: Make it fancy

Is a simple omelette too plain?

Then go gourmet. Add meat, veggies, herbs, and spices. Or 1–2 tablespoons of last night’s dinner.

My favourites to add are:

  • Creamy chicken and mushrooms,
  • Spaghetti bolognese (without the pasta),
  • Cajun chicken,
  • Nachos (minus the tortilla chips), and
  • Satay chicken.

Adding leftovers adds flavour without the prep time.

Option 3: Skip it today

Slept in or too short on time?

Then skip breakfast today. Make lunch your most important meal of the day. Or dinner.

This works well with intermittent fasting.

What not to do

Don’t start your day with sugar.

Go for a savoury option instead. Eating sugar on an empty stomach isn’t pretty. It spikes your glucose levels and leaves you craving more sugar. I’m not saying you can’t have that sweet treat.

Dress it up and eat it for dessert after dinner instead.
